SUPPLICATION :
A) When beginning a meal :
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
Bismillah
In the name of Allah
[abu Dawud 3:437, at-Tirmidhi 4:288]
When anyone of you begins eating, say (the above)
اللّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيمَا رَزَقْتَنَا ، وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ ، بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
Allahumma barik lana fima razaqtana wa-qina adhaban-naar. Bismillah.
O Allah! Bless (the food) You provided us and save us from the punishment of the Hellfire.
In the Name of Allah.

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنا فِيهِ وَ اَطْعَمْنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُ
Allahumma barik lana feehi wa at’imna khairan minhu
O Allah! Bless us in it and provide us with better than it
[at-Tirmidhi; 5:506]
B) Upon forgetting to say the du’a before a meal :
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ فِي اَوَّلِهِ وََآخِرهِ
Bismillahi fi awwalihi wa aakhiri
In the Name of Allah, in the beginning and in the end.
[abu Dawud; 3:347, at-Tirmidhi; 4:288]
C) After finishing a meal :
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِى اطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا ، وَجَعَلنَا مُسْلِمِينَ
Alhamdulilahil ladhi at’amana, wasaqana, waj’alna min-al Muslimeen
Praise be to Allah Who has fed us and given us drink and made us Muslims.

الْحَمدُ للَّهِ الَّذِي اطْعَمَنِي هَذَا ، وَرَزَقَنِيهِ ، مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلا قُوَّةٍ
Alhamdulilahil ladhi at’amani haadha, wa razaqaneehi, min ghairi hawlin minni wa la quwwatin
Praise be to Allah who has given me this food, and sustained me with it, though I was unable to do it and powerless.
[at-Tirmidhi, abu Dawud, ibn Majah]
D) Eating at someone’s house:
اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَهُمْ فِيمَا رَزَقْتَهُمْ ، وَاغْفِرْ لَهُمْ وَارْحَمْهُمْ
Allahumma barik lahum feema razaqtahum, waghfir lahum, war hamhum
O Allah! Bless them in what You have provided for them, and forgive them and have Mercy on them.
[Muslim; 3:1615]
E) When given a drink:
اللَّهُمَّ اطْعِمَّ مَنْ اطْعَمَنِي وَاسْقِِِ ِ مَنْ سَقَانِيِ
Allahumma aT’im man aT’amani, wasqi man saqani
O Allah! Feed him who fed me and give him drink who gave me to drink.
[Muslim; 3:126]
F) Upon drinking milk :
اللَّهُمَّ بَارِِكْ لَنا فِيهِ وَزِدْنَا مِنْهُ
Allahumma baarik lana feehi wa zidna minhu
O Allah! Bless us in it and give us increase of it.
[at-Tirmidhi; 5:506]
G) Upon drinking ZamZam water :
اللّهُمَ اِنِّى اَسْئَلُكَ عَلْمًا نَّافِعًا وَّ رِرْقًا وَّاسِعًا وَ شِفَآءً مَّنْ كُلِّ دّاءٍ
Allahhumma inni as’aluka ‘ilman nafian warizkan waasian wash-shifaan min kulli daa’in.
O Allah, I ask You to grant me beneficial knowledge, halal pure sustenance and cure from all diseases.
